Who we are Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress. Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that. Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive. This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale. We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life. If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us. What you’ll do As a Software Engineer, you will be helping connect our core food infrastructure platform with the external systems used by our restaurant partners. With guidance from more senior engineers, you will grow your skills while delivering real, production impact. Build and Maintain APIs: Contribute to developing, deploying, and maintaining reliable, secure API integrations for the exchange of critical data (orders, menus, status updates) between our platform and systems like Point-of-Sale (POS) and ERPs. Backend Development: Work primarily on the backend using modern development practices and one or more of our core languages: Java, Go, Kotlin, C++, C#, Scala or Rust. Data Integrity and Performance: Support data flow across systems, learning to query, synchronize, and model critical restaurant data reliably. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers and more experienced engineers to understand integration requirements and translate them into working code. Deliver Features: Take ownership of well-scoped tasks and features, from implementation through testing and deployment, with support from the team. Global Collaboration: Collaborate with teams and projects across more than 20 countries around the world. What we’re looking for Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally academic background in Computer Science or a related field. 1–3 years of professional experience as a Backend or Integration Software Engineer. Programming Proficiency: Ability to write production-ready code in at least one of our core backend stack languages: Java, Go, Kotlin, C++, Scala, Rust or C#. Mindset: A clear willingness to learn and grow, a love for technical challenges, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude. Impact: Some experience contributing to real projects where you can describe the part you played. Language: Good English proficiency, as you will be collaborating with our global team. Why join us At Atoms, you’ll work on one of the defining challenges of our time—bringing automation into the physical world to drive real, lasting impact. We exist to uncover valuable unknown truths and turn them into progress, which means constantly pushing beyond what’s known and building what doesn’t yet exist. The work is ambitious and often challenging, but it’s grounded in a shared sense of purpose and a team committed to seeing it through together. Our work only matters if it serves others, and we know that meaningful progress depends on the trust of the people we serve and the strength of our team—so we invest in both, creating an environment where you can do your best work and grow. What else you need to know This role is based in our São Paulo office. Software Engineer, Customer Lifecycle

On-sitefull timeMid-LevelMountain View, United States
Apply Now

Who we are In the past, to be a successful restaurateur, you simply had to have a passion for food and a passion for people — but to succeed as a digital restaurateur you also need to have a passion for technology. We believe in the joy of serving others, and that's why we created Otter – to help restaurateurs succeed in online food delivery. Restaurants around the world, both large and small, including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry's, KFC, and Eataly trust our software to power their delivery business. We increase sales, reduce order issues, and decrease delivery headaches. What you'll do As a Software Engineer on the Otter Customer Lifecycle team, you'll build the platform that every other team at Otter depends on — the core systems that define what a restaurant is in our product, and the services that get merchants from signup to serving orders. Build and own the merchant platform: the core services and data models behind stores, facilities, brands, and the entitlement-driven configuration that determines what each merchant can access. Design onboarding services that take a new restaurant from signup to live and serving orders, reliably and without manual intervention. Build the backend for self-serve growth — signup, activation, and conversion flows that let restaurants adopt Otter without touching a salesperson. Design offboarding and lifecycle cleanup so that when a merchant leaves, the systems behind them shut down cleanly instead of quietly running and costing money. Own your services end-to-end: design, build, instrument, debug, and improve reliability and performance. What we're looking for We value diversity of experience and are looking for engineers excited to own complex, high-impact systems. We look for a strong sense of ownership — people ready to take their work from idea to production and take responsibility for outcomes. Basic Qualifications Proficiency in Java or Go, writing production backend services. Solid foundation in distributed systems, microservices, and API design (gRPC and/or REST). Experience with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, CockroachDB) and writing performant queries. Experience designing data models and core domain objects that other teams build on top of. Experience operating services in production, and a collaborative, product-minded approach. Nice to Have Workflow orchestration (e.g. Temporal, Cadence) or event-driven architectures (Kafka). Authentication, authorization, permissions, or entitlements systems. Experience with API modernization or migrating services off a legacy stack. Marketplace, merchant platform, subscription, or billing systems experience. Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes). Why join us Demand for online food delivery is growing really fast! In the last 5 years, just in the US, the overall market has expanded 10X from $10B to $100B, and could expand to $500bn-$1T by 2030. Changing the restaurant industry : You'll be part of a team that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery. Collaborative environment: You will receive support and guidance from experienced colleagues and managers, helping you to learn, grow and achieve your goals, and you'll work closely with other teams to ensure our customer's success. What else you need to know This role is based in our Mountain View office location. As a company driven by innovation and continuous change, close collaboration is essential. We're constantly reimagining our industry, creating new products, and refining our processes, and we do our best work together. That's why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week. The base salary range for this role is $176,000 - $242,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus. Benefits Summary (USA Full-Time Exempt Employees): Medical, dental, and vision insurance (multiple plans, incl. HSA options). Company-paid life and disability insurance (short- and long-term). Voluntary insurance: accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity. Optional supplemental life insurance for self, spouse, and children. Pet insurance discount. 401(k). Health Savings Account (HSA) Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare, Dependent Care, Commuter) Time Off policies: Discretionary vacation days 8 paid holidays per year Paid sick time Paid Bereavement leave Paid Parental Leave Benefits are subject to change at the company's discretion. What you’ll do As an Integrations Software Engineer, you will be a critical part of our Systems of Record Team, responsible for connecting our core food infrastructure platform with the myriad of external systems used by our restaurant partners. Develop clean, efficient, and maintainable code. Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing systems. Design, develop, and maintain APIs that enable seamless communication between internal and external services. Design scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant architectural systems. Collaborate and prioritize with cross-functional stakeholders, both internal and external. What we’re looking for 7+ years of professional experience as a Backend or Integration Software Engineer, ideally gained in big tech environments or similarly fast-moving organizations. Technical Foundation: Academic background in Computer Science or a related field. Programming Proficiency: Proven ability to deliver production-ready code in at least one of our core backend stack languages: Java, Go, Kotlin, C++, or C#. Mindset: A clear willingness to grow, a love for technical challenges, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude. Impact: Demonstrated experience in projects and solutions where you can clearly articulate and demonstrate the impact you had on technical architecture and business stakeholders problems solving. What else you need to know This role is based in our Beijing office. Atoms is a company driven by invention and continuous change - we are constantly reimagining our industries, building new products, and refining how we operate. We do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week. Ready to join us as we serve those who serve others? #LI-Onsite

Who we are Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress. Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We're changing that. Atoms builds Physical AI — real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive. This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don't just build machines in a lab. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life. If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us. What you'll do Lead a team of 6 engineers owning end-to-end observability across the company's infrastructure, including logs, metrics, traces, and event-based monitoring Own the roadmap for our observability and cost initiative independently, no PM or TPM support, meeting directly with engineering managers across the company to identify pain points and design end-to-end solutions Drive down time to detect and time to mitigate for production incidents across a system where a single request can traverse 60+ services Extend observability coverage beyond our original food delivery systems into new physical domains, including autonomous mining transport, as the company's mission expands Maintain and grow a highly cost-efficient observability stack (currently running at a fraction of comparable third-party tooling costs) Represent the technical state of your domain in real time, speaking confidently to feasibility, scope, and timelines for any ask without needing to defer to others Stay hands-on (roughly a third of your time), jumping in to unblock the team when needed, using AI tools to analyze issues and surface insights, without sitting on the critical path for delivery Grow the careers of the engineers on your team while maintaining strong technical ownership of your domain What we're looking for 2+ years of experience managing and growing engineering teams, ideally within observability, platform, or infrastructure functions Strong foundation in engineering architecture and design fundamentals, enough to evaluate your team's technical decisions and push back constructively, even if you're not the one architecting solutions day to day Comfort operating without a PM or TPM, someone who can independently scope a roadmap, prioritize competing asks, and drive execution with high ownership Experience with, or ability to quickly ramp on, our stack: Go, Azure/Azure Kubernetes, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry. Prior Go experience is not required Why join us At Atoms, you’ll work on one of the defining challenges of our time—bringing automation into the physical world to drive real, lasting impact.
