As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Products team, your job extends well beyond converting tickets into pull requests. We are looking for an engineer who operates like a Product Manager: someone who takes full ownership of the feature lifecycle, obsessively measures post-launch business outcomes, and designs systems with downstream impacts—like data pipelines and analytics—in mind. You will lead the adoption of AI-native engineering practices across the team, leveraging state-of-the-art models, building autonomous agents, and embedding agentic workflows into both our core product architecture and internal development processes. We operate at the intersection of fintech, embedded finance, and real-time payroll systems—building products that handle millions of transactions with sub-second performance. Your work will directly enable millions of hourly workers to access financial freedom. What You’ll Do End-to-End Product Ownership: Partner directly with design, product, and data teams to define technical strategy, question assumptions, and evaluate product trade-offs before writing a line of code. Build with AI & Agents: Architect and deploy features utilizing AI models and autonomous agentic workflows. Drive the integration of modern AI tools to accelerate team velocity and enhance user experience. System-Wide Architecture: Design resilient systems considering latency, scale, downstream data consumers, and telemetry, ensuring data pipelines receive clean, actionable events. Measure Business Impact: Own features after launch. Instrument key metrics, monitor performance dashboards, investigate post-release gaps, and iterate based on real user behavior and business outcomes. What You’ll Need Technical Excellence: Deep experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade applications in cloud-native environments. Agentic Workflows & AI Native: Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-assisted workflows for rapid, high-quality code generation. Product & Business Acumen: A track record of prioritizing user impact over technical cleverness and holding yourself accountable to business metrics (conversion, retention, operational cost). Systems & Data Mindset: Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and how core transactional systems feed analytical data engineering pipelines. Fullstack Development: Ability to work across the stack comfortably, fully owning a product or feature. Frontend – React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and Expo (React Native) – Expertise with these is necessary. Backend – Laravel (PHP) – Some experience is ideal, but not a necessity as long as you have demonstrable expertise building performant backend systems at scale. Databases – PostgreSQL Infrastructure – AWS Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional communication skills. Clair is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Senior Engineer II: Annual base salary of $137,000 - $147,000 . The actual base pay within this range depends on many factors, such as education, skills, and experience. Learn more about us at getclair.com/about About the Role As an Analytics Engineer, you'll sit at the intersection of engineering and analytics, helping build Clair's data pipelines, modeling clean and trustworthy data sets, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization (Product, Operations, and Finance, to name a few). You'll play a key role in improving our data quality and contributing to our data architecture as it evolves. Your primary stakeholder will be the analytics team. Partnering with data analysts and data scientists, you'll help design, develop, and deliver well-modeled, cost-efficient data models that power the analyses driving decision-making at Clair. Some examples of what you'll do… Model data from our products into flexible, trusted analytic reporting tables Help maintain and extend data pipelines that move data from source systems into Snowflake (e.g., CDC streams, batch ingestion) Build and maintain scheduled Python jobs for data processing and automation Support the data science team by building model feature pipelines Help build new data management processes to maintain the integrity of production reporting environments Help identify and optimize Snowflake computing cost bottlenecks Contribute to and help maintain a code style guide across our dbt project(s) Key Responsibilities Contribute to Clair's ELT pipeline and help apply best practices in modeling, testing, documentation, and observability Support and improve data ingestion pipelines, including CDC replication from Postgres via Kafka and batch loading through Airbyte Develop and maintain Python-based data jobs that run on a scheduled basis in Snowflake Build and maintain data models using dbt that power analytics and business decisions Ingest and model data from new source systems to incorporate them into the data warehouse Partner with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to help define metrics, data definitions, and governance standards Support data governance, access control, and monitoring efforts across the data stack Identify data quality issues and help resolve root causes Contribute ideas and input as we scale the data function Occasionally support the analytics team with ad-hoc or high-priority analysis Qualifications 3-4 years of professional experience in the data analytics field Strong SQL proficiency 1-2 years hands-on experience modeling data with dbt in a production environment Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) Familiarity with data ingestion and orchestration tools (e.g., Airbyte, Kafka, Airflow) Understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, Kimball, etc.) Experience with a scripting language like Python or R Exposure to CDC pipelines, event streaming, or real-time data ingestion is a plus Comfortable working in — or excited to work in — a high-growth start-up environment Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical work into clear business value Additional Details Location: This is a hybrid position based in New York City; you will be expected to come into the office at least three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays) with additional days on occasion for client meetings. Compensation: The annual base salary for this role is $140,000 - $150,000. You will own critical system architecture, drive infrastructure reliability, and build at scale. Key Responsibilities Architect, automate, and manage our cloud infrastructure using Terraform. Oversee the reliability, performance, and monitoring of our systems using self-hosted Grafana, Sentry, and Laravel Nightwatch. Manage infrastructure and specialized environments for AI, data science, and ML workloads. Drive security and compliance efforts, including helping with SOC2 and PCI DSS audits and implementing technical controls. Develop and maintain internal tools to support cross-functional teams. Manage AI integrations and internal AI tools. Required Experience & Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and automation. Strong security mindset. Strong coding background; must be willing to learn/work with our PHP/Laravel stack. Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases (any database experience is okay). Ability to manage infrastructure for AI/ML/Data Science workloads.
