We own the systems and processes that enable our global network to scale across 337+ cities in 125+ countries while maintaining industry-leading performance and reliability. What you'll do We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our team and lead the design, evolution, and operational excellence of our global network infrastructure. You will own the foundational decisions about how our network grows: from capacity planning methodologies and hardware evolution strategies to architectural standards that inform infrastructure teams across the organization. You will work with a team of passionate, talented engineers and architects that are building the systems powering the internet's most critical infrastructure. You will play an active part in shaping the network architecture, strategies, and long-term roadmaps that will keep Cloudflare ahead of unprecedented scale. If you've designed backbone and edge networks from the ground up, automated BGP policy and traffic engineering at hyperscale, driven network planning and sourcing to balance performance, redundancy, and cost, and led teams through major architectural shifts - this is the role for you. You bring a deep understanding of modern routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, RSVP-TE), software-defined forwarding, and the tradeoffs between automation, standardization, and operational flexibility. You excel at building extensible frameworks that allow teams to solve tomorrow's problems without rewiring today's foundation. You have a track record of taking on greenfield problems and turning them into repeatable systems and processes. About the role We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead engineering across some of our AI and Internet Data Insights portfolio. You will be responsible for the people, execution, and engineering quality behind products that help customers make their content discoverable and turn complex Internet signals into useful experiences. You will partner closely with Product Management and engineering teams across Cloudflare to deliver current priorities and shape future opportunities. This is a management role for someone who is deeply technically credible. You will not be expected to write most of the code, but you should be able to understand the systems your engineers operate, challenge architectural decisions, ask the right questions when something is going wrong, and step into a technical problem when the situation calls for it. We're increasingly applying AI, from agentic workflows to LLM-assisted development and automated diagnostics, to build integrations faster, operate them more reliably, and reduce manual toil across the team. You’ll build the large-scale systems that let developers deploy, configure, and manage Workers globally, from simple static sites to full-stack applications serving millions of users. The work combines distributed systems, high-traffic APIs, performance, reliability, and developer experience.
