Fellow is the AI meeting assistant that helps teams turn conversations into decisions and action, built from the ground up with privacy and security in mind. We are looking for a full-stack Software Engineer to join our Engineering team and help build the core Fellow experience. You will work across the stack, from APIs and data models to polished product experiences, owning features from early idea through production and iteration. This is a role for someone who likes shipping. You will work closely with Product and Design, move quickly from ambiguous problems to working software, and stay close to how people actually use what you build. We care about good judgment, thoughtful execution, and finding the highest-leverage path to a great outcome. It is also an AI-native role. We use tools like Claude Code and Cursor throughout the development process, and we are looking for an engineer who thrives with this way of working. You should be excited to push beyond default workflows, experiment with new ways of building software, and use AI with the judgment required to ship high-quality production code. What you will do Build and ship product features end to end across React, TypeScript, Django, Python, GraphQL, and the systems around them. Take ownership of meaningful product areas, from understanding the problem and shaping the technical approach through implementation, rollout, monitoring, and iteration. Partner closely with Product and Design to turn broad ideas into simple, polished experiences that people genuinely enjoy using. Move quickly without losing sight of quality, writing thoughtful tests, reviewing code carefully, and keeping performance, reliability, and maintainability in mind. Dig into real-world problems and user feedback, trace issues to their root cause, and turn what you learn into durable improvements. Write and refine technical plans, break ambiguous work into practical pieces, and make good trade-offs when there is no perfect answer. Use AI coding agents deeply in your daily workflow, and help develop new tools, prompts, workflows, and practices that materially improve how the team builds software. Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and shared engineering practices while learning from the people around you and helping others do their best work. Help shape what we build next as Fellow continues evolving. Success means shipping useful things quickly, making the product noticeably better, and leaving the codebase and the way we work stronger than you found them. What we are looking for Professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software. Experience with modern web technologies. Our stack includes React, TypeScript, Django, Python, GraphQL, and Relay, but we care more about strong engineering fundamentals than exact stack matching. A track record of owning features or projects beyond implementation, including technical design, rollout, monitoring, and iteration. Strong product judgment and an instinct for finding practical solutions that create meaningful user impact. Excellence in working through ambiguity, asking good questions, and taking initiative without waiting for every detail to be defined. Deep, practical use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar tools, paired with strong judgment and a track record of developing new agentic workflows, tools, or practices that materially improve how software gets built. Clear communication and the ability to collaborate closely with engineers, Product, Design, QA, and other partners. A desire to learn quickly, and contribute to a team that moves fast and cares about the quality of what it ships. How we work Fellow is a remote-first company, working in Eastern time. This role is open to candidates located in Canada. Optional office space is available in Ottawa and Montreal. We move quickly, share work early, and help one another get unstuck. We like ambitious goals, practical solutions, and people who bring energy to solving problems. Engineers at Fellow have meaningful ownership. You will not be handed a stream of perfectly scoped tickets. We expect you to understand the problem, form a point of view, work with the right people, and help drive the solution through to something real. We believe speed and craftsmanship reinforce each other. Good judgment, clear ownership, strong tooling, and thoughtful engineering let us ship quickly while continuing to raise the quality bar. We use AI tools throughout the software-development lifecycle, not only to generate code. We experiment constantly with new workflows and expect engineers to help shape what AI-native product development should look like. And we believe work should be fun. The work matters, but we do our best work when the team is curious, collaborative, direct, and genuinely excited to build together. What We Offer At Fellow, we invest in the people who make our mission possible: Fair, competitive compensation — we benchmark against the market and pay fairly for every role. Health and dental coverage, including prescription drugs and life insurance. Parental leave — 12 weeks of paid leave at 80% of salary for any parent welcoming a child into their family. Time to recharge — three weeks of vacation, paid sick leave, and a paid company-wide break at the end of the year. Remote-first flexibility — work remotely within Canada. Room to grow — learning budgets, lunch-and-learns, and the freedom to own your work end to end.

Software Engineer - New Grad

On-sitefull timeEntry / JuniorOttawa, Canada
Apply Now

At Fellow.ai , we're on a mission to give every employee their own AI-powered Chief of Staff. It's an assistant that understands your meeting discussions, surfaces key insights, answers questions, and takes action so you can focus on what matters most. We're hiring a small group of exceptional new grads to join our Engineering team full-time. This isn't a rotational program or a sliver of a mature system. From your first month, you'll own real features that ship to customers like Shopify and HubSpot. You'll go from concept to production in days, not months. You'll work directly with Product and Design, and you'll use AI tools like Cursor and Claude to ship faster while raising the quality bar. You'll be paired with a senior engineer mentor who's invested in helping you grow quickly. Our Engineering Culture On the Engineering team at Fellow, we value rapid delivery, craftsmanship, and continuous learning. We ship big features multiple times per week and iterate quickly while keeping reliability and polish front of mind. We lean on AI tools and rigorous code review to raise the bar. We share knowledge through book clubs and lunch-and-learns, and we unleash big ideas at our twice-yearly hackathons. Above all, we collaborate openly, give fast feedback, and celebrate wins as a team. Why Fellow? Fellow is a remote-first, Series A startup backed by Craft Ventures, iNovia, and Felicis. Our founders previously built Fluidware (acquired by SurveyMonkey). Today we help the world's best teams make meetings more productive with the power of AI, from Shopify, HubSpot, and Warner Media to startups across the globe. For a new grad, that means: Ownership from day one: you'll ship AI features used by thousands of people, not tickets on a legacy system. Accelerated growth: small teams, a dedicated mentor, and fast feedback mean you'll learn in a year what takes three elsewhere. AI-native engineering: you'll build real depth in the most in-demand skill set in software today. Build your career in Ottawa: you don't have to move to Toronto or the US to work on hard, interesting problems. About the Role Engineering Excellence: Build and ship features end-to-end with React/TypeScript, Django/Python, and GraphQL, from API design to polished UI. Write clean, performant, and maintainable code. AI-Powered Development: Use Cursor, Claude, n8n, and other cutting-edge AI tools daily to move faster and raise the quality bar on everything you ship. Outcome-Oriented Delivery: Focus on work that meaningfully moves product and business metrics, turning requirements into user impact rather than just output. Collaborative Development: Partner closely with Product, Design, and QA to turn concepts into polished experiences that delight users. Quality & Testing: Write unit, integration, and regression tests. Take part in thoughtful code reviews, both giving and receiving them. Technical Specifications: Draft tech specs, break work into deliverable pieces, and define success metrics. Your mentor will coach you along the way. Growing With Us: As you ramp up, you'll take on larger projects and lead features from idea to launch. About You You might be a great fit if you: Are graduating (or recently graduated) with a degree or diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related program. Have built things you're proud of, such as co-op projects, side projects with real users, open-source contributions, or hackathon builds. Show us. Are relentlessly curious about AI and already use tools like Cursor or Claude to supercharge your productivity. Want to own features end-to-end and see the direct impact of your work. Are a natural problem-solver who digs into root causes rather than applying quick fixes, and who sees technical challenges as opportunities to learn. Communicate clearly and collaborate well across disciplines. Are comfortable with ambiguity and like taking initiative in a startup where no two days look the same. Details Start date: flexible, from May to September 2027 (earlier for recent grads) Location: remote-first / Ottawa Hybrid
