Role Overview We seek a Mechatronics Engineer to join our team based in San Francisco building products around mechatronics and robotics. The team is small with high ownership and agency, operating as a start up within Mach Industries. The engineer in this role will develop mechanical systems end-to-end, from ideation through deployment, working with your peers to make technical and design decisions in the early stages of the product development. High level responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Anticipate challenges in actuation, kinematics, sensor integration and embedded controls in order to help keep the team moving forward Make early technical and design decisions, from part selection through tradeoffs to ensure we can build and manufacture at scale Contribute to test plans, technical documentation, and engineering reviews. Validate design and iterate hardware based on performance feedback Build proof-of-concept designs, run experiments, and communicate findings Required Qualifications Foundational understanding of mechatronics, mechanism design, kinematics and dynamics. The Role Mach Industries is seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Autonomous Systems Engineer (FDASE) to lead the fielding, operation, and continued development of autonomous defense platforms. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, flight operations, product development, and customer engagement. You will be responsible for ensuring that complex autonomous systems can be deployed, operated, maintained, and scaled successfully in demanding real-world environments. As a Principal FDASE, you will establish operating standards, determine operational readiness, advise leadership on deployment risk, and translate field experience into actionable product improvements. You will lead customer engagements for Flight Operations, own internal and external training programs, and help transition emerging prototypes into repeatable, supportable products. This is a hands-on technical leadership role.
