THE ROLE Everpure Cloud Dedicated (formerly Cloud Block Store) is Pure’s enterprise storage solution running in the public cloud. It brings the same features customers know from FlashArray - like data reduction (deduplication and compression), snapshots, encryption, and replication - directly into AWS and Azure. Because we reduce how much data actually needs to be stored and how many native cloud disks are required, customers can run their workloads in the cloud with lower storage cost and predictable performance instead of over‑provisioning native cloud volumes. The service has been in production since 2019, serving enterprise, SaaS, and multicloud customers. It also acts as the storage engine for other Everpure Cloud offerings, such as Everpure Cloud Azure Native, where Azure users consume Pure storage as a native Azure service. Our Prague‑based team owns the project on both AWS and Azure end‑to‑end. We design and build the core storage architecture, handle resiliency and performance work, and drive deployment and upgrade mechanisms. We also work closely with product managers, support, and field teams on customer issues and roadmap priorities. Because we run on top of AWS and Azure, we must deeply understand their building blocks (VMs, disks, networking, databases) and how Purity behaves on top of them. For this role, we are looking for engineers who are curious about how things really work in the cloud, enjoy solving complex distributed‑systems problems, and are comfortable in a fast‑changing environment. Unlike traditional hardware projects, our work has to keep pace with new cloud services and features. You will help us evaluate new AWS and Azure capabilities and integrate them into our product to improve resiliency, performance, and cost efficiency for customers - while keeping the familiar, “FlashArray‑like” experience that Pure is known for. WHAT YOU'LL DO Design, implement, and review new features in the Everpure Cloud Dedicated data path, primarily in C++ and/or Python, running on AWS and Azure. Improve the resiliency, performance, and cost efficiency of our cloud storage stack (failover behavior, HA, capacity expansion, data reduction, cloud‑specific optimizations). Participate in our triage rotation: analyze failures from CI pipelines and automated tests, debug issues on CBS testbeds, and drive fixes into the codebase. Lead or co‑lead the investigation of product issues in customer environments, from initial escalation through root‑cause analysis and long‑term fixes. Collaborate closely with Prague and US teams (data‑plane, control‑plane, QE, Support, Product Management, Solution Architects) to align on designs, rollouts, and operational best practices. Contribute to and maintain technical documentation and runbooks so that other engineers, support, and field teams can operate the product with confidence. WHAT YOU BRING Solid basis in software engineering foundation building and maintaining backend or system‑level components in production. Strong programming skills in C++ or Python and a willingness to pick up new languages, tools, and frameworks as needed. End‑to‑end ownership mindset – from design and implementation through tests, CI pipelines, deployment, monitoring, and iterative hardening in production. Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills, including working with complex logs, CI failures, and issues that cross service boundaries, APIs, and cloud components. Curiosity and a growth mindset – you want to understand how things really work (storage, networking, cloud infrastructure) and you share that knowledge with others. Collaborative way of working – you communicate clearly, give and receive feedback well, and are comfortable working with distributed teams (Prague, US, and cross‑functional partners). Experience building or operating products in the public cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is a plus, especially around reliability, performance, or cost optimization. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Own system-level quality for Portworx Enterprise across Kubernetes, storage, and modern virtualization environments. Develop comprehensive test plans, test strategies, and automation for multiple concurrent product and feature releases. Build and maintain scalable automation test suites , with a strong focus on Golang-based automation and code quality. Drive validation of HA, resiliency, disaster recovery, upgrades, scale, and failure scenarios in large-scale Kubernetes environments. Identify functional and automation coverage gaps, assess risks early, and drive improvements to overall product quality . Collaborate with development, QE, and architecture teams across geographies to troubleshoot complex system-level issues and ensure timely releases. Ensure CI/CD pipelines and automation infrastructure effectively execute the required functional, regression and system test strategies. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE: Strong SDET mindset — engineering for quality and ability to design complex distributed system test failure scenarios Ability to lead by example and take end-to-end ownership of product quality . Strong programming and automation skills, preferably Golang , with Python experience also valuable. Strong debugging skills across Kubernetes, Linux, storage, virtualization . Ability to work on multiple concurrent product/feature releases . Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across geographically distributed teams. Ability to mentor engineers, conduct automation/code reviews. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : BS/MS with 8+ years of software testing/SDET experience , preferably involving distributed systems, infrastructure, storage, or virtualization. Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Kubernetes application lifecycle management. Experience working with VMWare/HyperV , K ubeVirt or Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization is highly desirable. Strong background in enterprise storage (file/block/Object) and Kubernetes persistent storage/CSI . Strong Golang and/or Python programming skills , with Golang preferred. Experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines . Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as OpenShift, EKS, AKS, or GKE is a plus. Working experience with public clouds such as AWS., Azure and Google Cloud is preferable. Experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Jira, Confluence, X-ray is preferable. Your goal is to maximize storage platform density and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) optimization by taking cutting-edge designs from initial architecture through rigorous validation to full-scale production . WHAT YOU'LL DO Lead End-to-End Hardware Qualification: Plan, implement, and automate hardware design validation projects in partnership with hyperscale customers and ODM/JDM vendors to guarantee production readiness, signal integrity, and long-term reliability . Drive System Hardening and Debugging: Perform root-cause failure analysis, analyze high-speed protocol captures, and resolve complex electrical, thermal, and firmware-hardware interaction issues to maintain peak platform availability . Optimize Hardware Architecture: Review high-speed bus interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, Serial Busses) and evaluate thermal cooling trade-offs to ensure sub-system components meet rigorous hyperscale efficiency standards . WHAT YOU BRING Hardware Design & Qualification Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in qualifying complex server, storage, or accelerated computing platforms at the electrical, protocol, and functional levels . Technical Deep-Dive Capabilities: Proficient in high-speed signal analysis (using oscilloscopes and bus analyzers), coupled with a firm understanding of system thermal dynamics, NVMe drives, and power distribution architectures . Firmware & Systems Integration Proficiency: Hands-on experience navigating OS/kernel-level hardware debugging tools and working with system firmware (BIOS, BMC) to isolate and fix sub-system failures . Test Automation & Scripting Mastery: Proven ability to build, automate, and scale hardware validation test beds using scripting languages (such as Python or BASH) .
