Enforce tagging standards , resource hierarchy models , and governance frameworks to enable accountability, cost tracking, and lifecycle management. Manage and evolve IAM, SSO, Org/Subscription/Project policies, and Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC) across all clouds. Embed Security and Compliance at Scale: Design and implement security controls including encryption, KMS, VPC Service Controls, privileged access management (PIM), and audit logging . Proactively address security vulnerabilities , misconfigurations, and compliance gaps in collaboration with the InfoSec teams. Lead periodic Compliance Audits, cloud security and producing mitigation and remediation strategies. Drive Automation, Efficiency, and Optimization: Collaborate with the team for development of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates and automation pipelines using Terraform , Cloudformation , and CI/CD (Flux, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD etc) to support and manage various aspects of Cloud Operations. Continuously identify cost-optimization opportunities via rightsizing, storage tiering, idle resource elimination, and architecture reviews. Experience You’ll Need: You are a passionate and experienced cloud expert who thrives on building scalable, secure, and automated systems. BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience . 2+ years of CloudOps, Engineering, or Software Architecture experience , with deep expertise in at least one major public cloud ( AWS / GCP/AZure ) and familiarity with others ( OCI, etc ). Expertise in multi-cloud IAM , Org/Project design, security policies, logging/monitoring, and access controls . Strong skills in automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform/CDK/Azure Bicep. Proven experience in cloud financial management and cost optimization strategies. Excellent communication, collaboration, mentorship, and leadership skills. Nice to have: Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks ( SOX, FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO, HIPAA ). Understanding of FedRAMP operational controls; past FedRAMP environment experience is a significant plus. Experience working at the intersection of infrastructure and product - a track record of working with product and backend engineers to design and build novel solutions that are not constrained by runtime environment e.g. onprem, customer cloud, neo cloud, or managed cloud Experience proactively solving customer pain points at the infrastructure level (simplifying customer onboarding procedures, redesigning systems to meet customer security requirements) Experience with modern performance programming languages such as Go, Rust is a plus Deep knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure across clouds via service mesh networking ( Istio/LinkerD, envoy, eBPF a plus). About the team The Information Security organization advances the overall state of security at Rubrik through purposeful initiatives and coordination of large security projects. Information Security builds technologies, tools, and processes to better enable teams at Rubrik to develop secure software and protect data and systems with appropriate security controls. Information Security also develops systems to monitor and respond to attacks against our systems, provides awareness education to teams on security best practices for data protection, and ensures data sharing relationships with third parties in order to securely protect Rubrik information.3 About the role We are looking for an experienced and technically deep Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineer to execute technical strategy across our entire Identity and Access Security management program. This domain spans a broad and increasingly complex set of disciplines, including Identity Governance & Administration (IGA), Access Management, Privileged Access Management (PAM), Non-Human Identity (NHI) security, and the emerging space of Agentic Identity security. This is fundamentally a hands-on role. You will be expected to personally design systems from the ground up and build automation that scales across a large and diverse application portfolio. Incident Response & Forensics Support Provide subject matter expertise during security incidents to support investigations into identity and access related events. On-Call Coverage & Escalations Engage in on-call rotations and provide technical escalation support outside standard business hours. Technical governance and design reviews Enforce technical standards across the team, evaluate identity related design proposals, and serve as the main escalation point for complex identity security decisions and integration challenges Experience you'll need Minimum of 6 years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), with deep hands-on experience implementing and managing IAM solutions within leading cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Proficiency with modern identity platforms (e.g., SailPoint, Okta, CyberArk, or equivalents) and identity protocols such as SAML, OpenID Connect, and OAuth. Strong understanding of Identity Governance, Privileged Access Management (PAM) principles, Non-Human Identities/AI Identities and Access Certification processes. Demonstrated experience designing least-privilege / RBAC or ABAC models at scale, and reasoning about tradeoffs between security posture and developer/user friction. Key responsibilities (time allocation) Build large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed software systems that can scale indefinitely (35% of time) Own, design, and develop cutting-edge solutions for Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) for on‑prem and major cloud platforms; Implement data management jobs for backup and recovery of virtual machines in virtualized enterprise infrastructure (Scala/Java); Design and implement admin-facing UIs and intuitive APIs that integrate with third-party and customer applications Perform code reviews focused on interface design, code quality, and testing strategies Solve challenging scalability and stability problems impacting delivery of high‑scale products in accordance with quality, velocity, and coding standards (25% of time) Analyze defects to assess and prioritize fixes; work with customers and product to understand requirements and requested customizations before implementation Respond to critical problems in our Saas product offerings (20% of time) resolve issues in build and test infrastructure; create solutions with robust monitoring, metrics, and automation Partner closely with Rubrik product teams to understand customer requirements and ensure features are delivered effectively (20% of time) What you’ll do (summary) Design, build, and maintain Rubrik’s cloud data protection services for SaaS applications Tackle complex distributed systems and scaling problems Collaborate with Product Management, UI, Documentation, and Support teams Lead projects and mentor junior engineers Minimum qualifications 3+ years building large-scale distributed systems Deep understanding of distributed & cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP) BS in Computer Science or equivalent Strong code review and testing practices Proven experience in data structures, software design, and systems analysis Preferred qualifications Proficiency in one or more: Go, Scala, Python Experience with Bazel, Git, and GitHub Experience establishing/maintaining automated build systems The minimum and maximum base salaries for this role are posted below; additionally, the role is eligible for bonus potential, equity and benefits.
