About the role: This is a build-your-career-here role, not a stepping-stone. You'll learn cloud infrastructure and security the way Shift actually does it: hands-on, with real ownership, working alongside engineers who'll teach you things you won't pick up from a course. What you'll do: Support the design, build and integration of security solutions across Shift's applications and tooling. Help maintain and improve the secure infrastructure underneath Shift Online, Shift Trade, Shift Partner and TM Vault. Get hands-on with our automated deployment pipelines and DevOps best practice. Assist with security testing and vulnerability scanning. Build your radar for current security threats, vulnerabilities and industry trends. Be the first line of support for infrastructure requests: triaging, troubleshooting and escalating where it genuinely needs a senior engineer. Contribute to policies, risk assessments and security controls as you build your expertise. What you'll bring: 1-2 years' experience in a cloud infrastructure or security-focused role, or a relevant tertiary qualification with demonstrated interest (projects, internships, personal builds). Exposure to at least one scripting or programming language (Python, PowerShell, Bash or C#). Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS (IaaS/PaaS) - we run on Azure, but AWS experience that translates across is welcome. Awareness of Docker, Kubernetes and Helm, and a genuine appetite to go deeper. A foundational understanding of security concepts (IAM, WAF, vulnerability management). Curiosity about CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Enterprise, GitOps or Octopus Deploy. The adaptability to pick things up fast, and the accountability to own your patch rather than wait to be told what's next. Backed by the resources of an established company and powered by a startup spirit, we’re creating tools that help businesses unlock the power of their banking data. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who’s excited to build modern, scalable systems from the ground up. This is a chance to work on a greenfield product, influence technical decisions, and be part of shaping an inclusive and collaborative engineering culture from day one. What you’ll do: Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications using C#, .NET, React, and other modern technologies. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver high-impact features and improvements. Contribute to architectural decisions and help build a reliable microservices-based system. Ensure high standards of code quality, testing, and documentation. Support the team’s DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (Azure). Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and mentoring where needed. Embrace agile ways of working, continuous learning, and a user-first mindset. What you’ll bring: 6+ years of experience building software with C# and .NET. Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices. Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms. Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and tools (e.g. GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Octopus). A mindset that values testing, quality, and reliable delivery. Strong collaboration and communication skills - you’re comfortable working cross functionally and contributing your ideas in a team setting. You won't be handed a change request and told to execute it, you'll be one of the people deciding how our cloud infrastructure gets built, secured and kept running. Our engineers carry real decision-making power, not just delivery responsibility, and the problems you'll be solving are ours alone to solve, because our data and decisioning capability is what makes Shift Shift. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to own complex infrastructure and security work end to end. What you'll do: Lead complex DevOps and security initiatives across Shift's cloud environments, from design through to delivery. Build, maintain and continuously improve our automated deployment pipelines using DevOps best practice. Drive security testing, vulnerability scanning and remediation across production, data and operational infrastructure. Set the standard for security best practice - policies, risk assessments, controls and processes and guide the wider infrastructure team in applying it. Keep a live watch on emerging security threats and industry trends, and get ahead of risk before it becomes an incident. Partner closely with our engineering teams to embed security into applications and tooling from the start. Identify infrastructure and security uplift work that's been queued for too long, and lead it end to end - we'd rather fix things properly once than patch them repeatedly. What you'll bring: 5+ years in a cloud infrastructure or security-focused technology role. Strong hands-on experience with Azure or AWS (IaaS and PaaS) - we run on Azure, but strong AWS experience that translates across is welcome. Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, PowerShell, Bash or C#). Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, with working knowledge of Helm. A solid grasp of security fundamentals (IAM, WAF, vulnerability management) backed by real implementation experience. Experience with CSPM/KSPM tooling, network security controls (NSGs, application gateways, firewalls, private links), and secrets management (Azure Key Vault). Proven experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Enterprise, GitOps via Flux CD or Argo CD, Octopus Deploy). Azure Entra ID experience is preferred; exposure to Azure SQL or APM tooling like Dynatrace is a bonus. Comfort with ambiguity and a bias for figuring things out rather than waiting for a playbook - the tempo here is fast and the team is lean.
