Performs detailed design on all aspects of electrical power systems: one-lines, three-lines, control/relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit/cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, etc. Develops and implements protective relay settings and schemes for high voltage equipment. Maintain organized design and asset documentation for all Starbase launch and power facilities. Ensure compliance with NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, NESC, and IEEE standards, prioritizing safety and engineering excellence. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline. 1+ years of experience in power systems design, analysis, and build, with a focus on high-power, high-voltage systems. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES 3+ years of professional experience in a similar role. Professional Engineering license or intention to actively seeking PE license. Experience with power systems analysis software and tools: ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, PowerWorld, Matlab, PSCAD, PSEE, Simulink, etc. Experience performing basic load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, coordination, and transient stability studies. Familiarity with industrial power systems up to 345 kV, including switchgear, transformers, BESS, VFDs, motors, distribution systems, UPS/emergency backups, power generation, relaying, metering, protective devices, and networking. Familiarity with industrial communications protocols and networking: Modbus, IEEE C37.115, IEEE C37.111, DNP3, etc. Experience with CAD software: Revit, AutoCAD, NX, etc. Demonstrated initiative, creative problem-solving, and strong analytical/engineering fundamentals. PRINCIPAL ASIC DESIGN ENGINEER (STARSHIELD) Starshield leverages SpaceX’s Starlink technology and launch capability to support national security efforts. While Starlink is designed for consumer and commercial use, Starshield is designed for government use, with an initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. As an ASIC Design Engineer on the Starshield team, you will be working on advanced development programs in support of U.S. National Security. In this role, you will be developing cutting-edge next-generation FPGAs and ASICs for deployment in space and ground infrastructures around the globe. You will work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, where we are exploring unsolved problems and applying the SpaceX mindset of iterating rapidly to go from design and demo to operational capability at lightning pace. RESPONSIBILITIES: Design digital ASICs and/or FPGAs for Starshield projects. Evaluate architectural trade-offs based on features, performance requirements and system limitations. Derive specifications for the subsystems and circuits, and work with modem/DSP and RFIC engineers to partition functions between hardware and software domains. Define micro-architecture, implement the RTL in Verilog/System Verilog, integrate that in top level and deliver the fully verified, synthesis/timing clean design.
