Opportunity Offerwall by Unity is a leading mobile advertising and monetization platform that empowers game developers to maximize revenue and engage users through rewarded experiences. For over a decade, we've connected millions of players with offers that provide tangible in-app value, and we're now building the next generation of that product. Rewarded advertising attracts fraud. Every conversion attempt on Offerwall and the Unity Rewards app is scored in real time by our fraud detection stack: a prediction service, an online feature store, streaming and batch feature pipelines, and a rules engine that decides what gets paid out. When fraud gets through, money leaks from our advertisers and our business. We're seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to own the ML side of Offerwall fraud prevention. You'll take our real-time anomaly detection and device risk models from development into production, build the labeled fraud dataset and evaluation methodology the team measures itself against, and modernize how we train, serve, and monitor models. You'll work closely with data engineering, backend, and product partners who own the systems your models plug into. This is a hands-on role with real scope. You'll be one of a small group of engineers responsible for fraud ML end to end, and you'll have a direct line from the models you ship to dollars saved. What you'll be doing Ship Fraud Models to Production: Take our real-time anomaly detection and device risk models from development to production, so their output drives payout and blocking decisions. Build the Ground Truth: Create and maintain a golden labeled fraud dataset, and define the evaluation methodology and baseline fraud-efficacy metrics the team uses to judge every model and rule change. Own Features End to End: Design and evolve the streaming and batch features that feed our Redis online feature store, partnering with data engineering on freshness, correctness, and lineage. Modernize ML Infrastructure: Plan and drive the evolution of our training and serving stack, including evaluating a move from SageMaker to Kubeflow and KServe, with attention to latency on the real-time scoring path. Detect New Fraud Patterns: Investigate fraud spikes, analyze user and device behavior, and turn findings into new detection signals, features, and models. Operate & Document: Monitor model and feature health in production, write runbooks and data lineage docs, and participate in on-call for the fraud detection stack. What we're looking for Production ML Experience: Several years building ML models and taking them all the way to production, including deployment, monitoring, and iteration after launch. Fraud, Risk, or Anomaly Detection: Hands-on experience with fraud detection, abuse prevention, risk scoring, or anomaly detection, including working with sparse, noisy, or adversarial labels. Real-time Serving & Feature Engineering: Experience with low-latency model serving and online/offline feature pipelines (for example Redis or another online feature store, Kafka or similar streaming, Airflow). Evaluation Rigor: Ability to build labeled datasets from imperfect signals and design evaluation methods that hold up when fraud patterns shift. Core Technologies: Strong Python and SQL. Working knowledge of a cloud ML platform such as AWS SageMaker, Kubeflow, or KServe. Ownership & Collaboration: You take ambiguous problems to shipped outcomes with limited oversight, write things down, and work well with backend, data, and product partners. You use AI coding tools to move faster. You might also have Experience with ad fraud, install/attribution fraud, or fraud in rewarded or incentivized advertising. Experience with unsupervised or semi-supervised detection methods such as autoencoders, isolation forests, or graph-based approaches to device and user linking. Experience migrating ML serving between platforms, or building MLOps tooling on Kubernetes. Background in mobile ad tech, mobile games, or app monetization. Additional Details Base Salary Range: We determine the base salary range for this role based on your primary work location: Zone A: $178,700 - $232,300 Zone B: $159,100 - $206,800 Zone C: $140,700 - $182,900 This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set. Benefits At Unity, we want our team members to thrive. We offer a wide range of benefits designed to support well-being and work-life balance. Please note: Benefits eligibility, specific offerings, and coverage vary based on the country and employment status. While specific benefits vary, here are some of the ways we strive to take care of our eligible team members globally: Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance | Commute subsidy | Employee stock ownership | Competitive retirement/pension plans | Generous vacation and personal days | Support for new parents through leave and family-care programs | Office food snacks | Mental Health and Wellbeing programs and support | Employee Resource Groups | Global Employee Assistance Program | Training and development programs | Volunteering and donation matching program Life at Unity Unity [NYSE: U] is the world’s leading game engine, powering play for more than 3 billion consumers each month. Fourchette salariale de base : nous établissons la fourchette de salaire de base de ce poste selon votre lieu de travail principal : Montréal : 34,00 $ CAD l’heure –– U-Accelerate: Software Developer, New Grad Unity is building its next generation of technical leaders, and we are starting with you Most graduate programs ask what you already know. U-Accelerate is built around what you could become. This is the first cohort of a program Unity created because of something we saw in our own engineering organization: we have been hiring senior talent instead of building it. U-Accelerate is how we change that. Twelve graduates, one year, four engineering teams, and a serious investment of money, mentorship and senior engineering time in people at the very start of their careers. From your first week you will be a Unity employee working on the engine, its rendering, the tools and the documentation that hundreds of thousands of developers use to make games and real-time experiences. The work is real, the code ships, and the teams you join need what you produce. What the year looks like Two-week technical bootcamp: 11 to 22 January 2027 Your cohort starts together, in person in Montreal. Two weeks of technical seminars, hands-on workshops and time with Unity engineering leaders. You’ll arrive with twelve different backgrounds and leave with a shared understanding of the engine, the codebase and each other. Bootcamp ends with a matchmaking exercise. You rank the teams you most want to work with, and we place you against those preferences. We guarantee a placement in at least one of your two top choices, so you are never assigned somewhere you had no say in. Rotation one: 25 January to 2 July 2027 Six months embedded in one of our participating engineering teams, with your own objectives, your own named mentor, and a real place in the team’s planning and delivery. Rotation two: 5 July to 11 December 2027 Six months in a second team, applying what you learned in a different technical context with a different set of problems. Breadth is the point. You finish the year having seen how two parts of a large engineering organization actually work. There is one deliberate exception. If a graduate and a team both wish to continue working together beyond 6 months, we keep you there rather than rotate you for the sake of it. Your development comes first. The teams you could join Unity Studio Productions (USP) under Andrea Bobick and Jacob Anderson, working on production tooling and pipelines. Documentation under Catherine Morrison, where technical writing meets deep engine knowledge and shapes how every Unity developer learns the product. Quality under Vlad Neykov, where you learn how a product of Unity’s scale is tested, measured and held to a standard. Graphics Engineering under Charles Sanglimsuwan, where you learn rendering and performance work in C++ and C# alongside the engineers who build it. No graphics background is required. This team has built its rotation around coaching, so curiosity matters more than coursework. The entry paths we have mapped so far include Software Engineer , SDET (Software Developer Engineer in Test) , Technical Writer , Technical Project Manager , and Graphics Engineer . Graphics is one of the most sought-after specialisms among students, and graphics courses are often oversubscribed at university. You do not need to have taken one. The Graphics Engineering rotation is open to bachelor’s graduates with no graphics background, and it is built so you can learn rendering inside the year. How we will develop you The mentor framework is the part of this program we are proudest of, and the part the business is paying for in senior engineering time rather than cash. Across the cohort, our teams are committing around 1,390 hours of mentoring and bootcamp teaching. That is roughly 35 person-weeks of experienced Unity engineers, set aside for twelve people. A named mentor in every rotation. A senior engineer on your team whose job is your technical growth, not just your task list. Structured feedback every three months , plus formal mid-cycle and end-of-cycle reviews. Written down, specific, and yours to act on. You will always know where you stand. Direct access to engineering leadership. The leaders who sponsored this program teach on the bootcamp and stay involved through the year. Hands-on C++ and performance work. Low-level C++ and performance optimization are skills many university programs no longer teach in depth, and they are among the most valuable you can build early in an engine career. You will build them on real code, with experienced engineers reviewing your work. Learning the way our engineers learn. Our engineers use AI tools to get up to speed on unfamiliar parts of the stack, and you will learn to do the same, alongside the fundamentals rather than instead of them. Cohort support. Eleven other graduates going through the same year, starting on the same day. What happens at the end We will be straight with you, because you deserve a clear picture before you apply. This is a twelve-month fixed-term role, not a permanent one, and we do not promise a permanent job at the end. What we do promise is that every participating team enters this program intending to convert the graduates who thrive, and each leader makes that decision having watched you work for a year rather than from a forty-five minute interview. That is a far better position to be in than most graduate applicants ever reach. If a permanent role does not follow, you leave with a year of paid, senior-mentored engineering experience inside one of the most widely used real-time 3D platforms in the world. That is worth having wherever you go next. What we are looking for We are hiring for trajectory, not for a finished engineer. The strongest candidates in this process will be the ones who show us how fast they learn, how they think when they do not know the answer, and how they work with other people on a hard problem. You will need A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, software engineering, games, graphics or a related technical field, completed (or completing) in the 2025 or 2026 graduating class. Programming ability in at least one language. C# or C++ experience is an advantage, but we do not expect deep C++ knowledge from university; that is part of what you will learn here. Genuine interest in at least one of our areas: engine and runtime development, graphics, developer tooling, technical writing, or software quality. The right to work in Canada, and the ability to be based in Montreal from January 2027. Working proficiency in English, with French an asset for life and work in Quebec. What will make you stand out Evidence that you build things. A game, a tool, a mod, a contribution to an open source project, a university project you took further than the assignment required. We care more about what you have made than where you made it. A bias to action. You try things, you get them wrong, you adjust. We would rather see a rough working attempt than a perfect plan. Collaboration. Unity is built by large teams across many time zones. How you reason out loud, take input and change your mind matters as much as your code. Curiosity about how things work underneath. The graduates who do best here are the ones who want to open the box. How we hire Applications open 1 November 2026 and close on 15 November 2026. A 45-minute conversation with Unity’s Talent Acquisition team about your motivation, how you work, and your growth potential. A 60-minute technical interview with a senior engineer from one of the participating teams. This is a live, practical session, in person wherever possible. We are interested in how you approach a problem and work through it with someone, not in whether you have memorized an algorithm. Offers ahead of the January start. We are recruiting directly with McGill University, Concordia University, École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Université de Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal, and we welcome applications from graduates of any institution who meet the criteria above. How we work Unity’s Principles shape how we hire and how we expect each other to behave: lead with empathy and respect, communicate with candor, act with urgency, and prioritize the greater good. You will be assessed against them in this process, and you will be supported by them once you are here. This is a fixed-term employment contract with full employee benefits. Unity is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to an inclusive process and will provide accommodations at any stage. Tell us what you need and we will arrange it. Senior Offensive Security Engineer

Remotefull timeSeniorWashington, United States (Remote)
Apply Now

About the role You will find our weaknesses before someone else does. Unity's attack surface spans the engine and editor that developers build on, the client runtime shipped in games played by billions of people, a broad portfolio of cloud products and services, a large ads and monetization business, our corporate environment, and a fast-growing set of AI-assisted and agentic tools. Your job is to attack all of it the way a real adversary would, and to turn what you find into fixes that stick. This is not a checklist pen-testing role. You will plan and run realistic attack campaigns, chain small weaknesses into real impact, and explain clearly to engineers and leaders what an attacker could actually do and what matters most to fix. You will work closely with Product Security, Infrastructure Security, Security Operations, and engineering teams, and you will help build the tooling and automation that let a small offensive team cover a very large surface. What you will own Adversary emulation and red teaming : plan and run objective-based red team operations against our cloud, corporate, and production environments, modeled on threats relevant to Unity. Run purple team exercises with Security Operations to test and improve detection and response. Application testing : deep security testing of Unity products and services, including web applications and APIs, the engine, editor and client runtime, ads and monetization systems, and developer-facing platforms. Cloud and infrastructure attack paths : find and demonstrate attack paths across multi-cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure), Kubernetes and containers, CI/CD pipelines, identity, and secrets. AI and agentic systems : test LLM integrations, AI-native products, and agent workflows for issues such as prompt injection, data leakage, tool misuse, and excessive permissions. Findings to fixes : write clear, prioritized findings with realistic impact, work with owning teams on remediation, and retest to confirm fixes. Offensive tooling and automation : build and maintain tools, scripts, and automation that scale adversarial engineering, testing and turn repeated findings into continuous checks. What success looks like in the first 12 months A risk-based testing plan across Unity's highest-value targets, agreed with security leadership and the owning engineering teams. Several end-to-end red team or adversary emulation operations completed, each with clear findings, executive-ready readouts, and tracked remediation. Measurable improvements in detection from purple team exercises with Security Operations. Reusable tooling or automation that turns recurring classes of findings into continuous checks. What you bring Required 6+ years in offensive security (red teaming, penetration testing, purple teaming, or vulnerability research), including leading engagements end to end. Hands-on experience attacking cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure), including identity, Kubernetes and containers, and CI/CD. Strong web application and API security testing skills, with the ability to find logic flaws, not just scanner results. Solid scripting or programming ability (for example Python, Go, or C/C++) to build tools and exploits. Experience running adversary emulation or red team operations against realistic objectives, and working with defenders in purple team exercises. Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain technical risk to engineers and to non-technical leaders. You genuinely enjoy working as part of a team, sharing ideas, offering support, and celebrating wins together. Preferred Experience testing LLM-based products, AI agents, or AI-assisted developer tools. Reverse engineering, binary exploitation, or game client and anti-cheat security experience. Experience in gaming, ad tech, or large developer-facing platforms. Bug bounty, CVEs, conference talks, published research, or open-source security tooling. Relevant certifications (OSCP, OSEP, OSWE, CRTO) are useful but will not substitute for a track record. How you work You think like an attacker and act like a partner. You go after real impact, not volume of findings, and you know the difference between an issue that matters and one that only looks bad in a report. You operate safely in production, with clear rules of engagement. You automate what you do twice. You build trust with engineering teams so they want you involved early, and you hold a high bar on getting fixes done. Senior Offensive Security Engineer

Base Salary Range: We determine the base salary range for this role based on your primary work location: Zone A: $160,300 - $240,500 USD gross Zone B: $181,200 - $271,800 USD gross Zone C: $203,600 - $305,400 USD gross This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position.
