About You 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, with at least 5 years at the Principal Engineer level. Proven track record designing and operating large-scale data infrastructures at high scale in a complex, fast-paced environment, with experience across Kafka and its ecosystem (e.g., Kafka Streams, Confluent Platform), ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and broader big data frameworks. About the Role: As an Engineering Manager on the Dashboard team, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for the primary interface developers use to build, deploy, and manage applications on Vercel. The Dashboard is where customers experience the platform every day, from onboarding new projects to managing deployments, observability, billing, security, AI, and team collaboration. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and other engineering teams to deliver intuitive, high-quality product experiences while helping shape the long-term architecture of one of Vercel's most important customer-facing surfaces. Raise the engineering bar through thoughtful design reviews, well-tested code, production ownership, and clear technical communication. Engage with developers and the open-source community to understand where background jobs, queues, and scheduling create friction—and use that feedback to improve the platform. About You: You have 5+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems, developer platforms, or cloud infrastructure. Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and open-source infrastructure or developer tools is a plus. You are comfortable working across APIs, runtimes, storage, networking, and production operations. You have experience with one or more of: job queues, schedulers, workflow orchestration, event-driven systems, state machines, stream processing, or durable execution. You understand the tradeoffs behind delivery guarantees, retries, idempotency, concurrency, and fault tolerance—and can turn those tradeoffs into usable product primitives. You write high-quality, well-tested code and enjoy solving complex technical problems.
