ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Infrastructure/Software Engineer (Mid-Level/Senior) for the Compute team at VTEX. This team owns the platform's shared compute infrastructure: EKS clusters (including Dark Kitchen), the migration of the legacy Beanstalk environment, the internal networking layer (Private Link, VPC), traffic balancing (Janus, NLB/ALB), GitOps (ArgoCD), and the Core API. You will work on one of the company's most critical engineering challenges today: unlocking the definitive migration from legacy Beanstalk to EKS, while maintaining reliability and zero downtime for dozens of teams dependent on this infrastructure. ABOUT THE TEAM The Compute team is part of VTEX's Core Platform, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the compute infrastructure supporting the platform for thousands of stores. As part of a recent reorganization, the team is focused on consolidating the next generation of compute infrastructure, reducing technical debt from legacy platforms, and raising the self-service standard for teams that rely on it. WHAT YOU WILL DO Migrate and modernize critical infrastructure: Work directly on migrating workloads from legacy Beanstalk to EKS, managing networking, IAM, and functional parity. Build for scale: Design and maintain compute and networking components (Private Link, load balancers, Core API) used simultaneously by multiple teams. Operate critical production systems: Ensure high availability and resilience of the shared compute infrastructure, including participating in on-call rotations. Evolve GitOps and IaC: Maintain and evolve ArgoCD/Argo Rollouts and the team’s infrastructure as code. Cross-team collaboration: Act as a technical focal point for internal teams (Checkout, MasterData, Dark Kitchen, Traffic, among others) relying on Compute infrastructure. WHO YOU ARE Experienced backend/platform engineer with a solid track record operating and evolving Kubernetes/EKS infrastructure. Hands-on experience with production AWS (VPC, IAM, load balancers, Auto Scaling/Beanstalk). Strong knowledge of distributed systems and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, proxies, inter-service communication). Comfortable with legacy systems in transition: experience migrating workloads between compute platforms is a major plus. Familiarity with GitOps and IaC (ArgoCD, Pulumi, or equivalent). Effective communicator capable of negotiating technical priorities and collaborating with product teams and other platform squads. ABOUT THE ROLE We are proactively seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing multi-tenant SaaS solutions and a proven track record in backend development. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will serve as a technical reference for the team, providing guidance and expertise in backend development best practices. You will be responsible for important evolutions of our products in terms of scalability (they're global products!) and product evolution to address main customers demands and market opportunities. Your contributions will directly impact the success and global growth of our organization, making this a truly exciting opportunity. ABOUT THE TEAM Currently, we have various open positions available, and throughout the hiring process, we'll match candidates with teams based on their skills and identified level of seniority. WHO YOU ARE You have experience in building backend systems for large-scale applications. You have demonstrated experience in a technical guidance capacity, successfully guiding project teams and establishing strategic technical direction; You are proficient in multiple programming languages. While we remain language agnostic, it's worth mentioning that this team primarily works with C# as language of choice. Someone with academic background preferably in Engineering courses, such as Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related fields. You have a proven track record of working with cross-functional teams. You thrive in dynamic environments and find them energizing.
