About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Systems Engineer/ Lead Systems Integrator to join our Systems and Design organization, responsible for end-to-end engineering functions across all major disciplines, including systems engineering, hardware design, mechanical engineering, electronics, and cross-functional integration. This role is pivotal in driving the development and customization of our KinetiX Wayside Inspection products to meet specific customer needs and enhance overall product performance. The System Engineer will join a group of talented engineers from multiple disciplines and collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and third-party experts to deliver high-impact solutions. Key Responsibilities 1. Product Design & Standardization Own and evolve the base product architecture , ensuring standardization across mechanical, electronic, and system components to drive scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. Own system-level design and integration , ensuring cohesive architecture, clear interfaces, and alignment across all engineering disciplines for on-time delivery. Define, document, and govern system requirements and verification processes across the product lifecycle. 2. Customization & Customer Solutions Conduct gap analysis between base product designs and customer requirements to identify required customizations. Lead cross-functional solution definition and validate feasibility through architecture alignment, prototyping, and technical trade-off analysis. Translate customer needs into detailed system and subsystem requirements , ensuring cross-functional ownership and alignment for execution. 3. Design Changes for Performance and Reliability Identify, implement, and validate design improvements to address performance and reliability issues through root cause analysis, cross-functional alignment, and prototyping. 4. Collaboration and Governance Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and product teams to ensure alignment with system design, platform strategy, and delivery timelines. Explore opportunities to combine products from multiple product lines to offer differentiated solutions. Establish and drive design governance, engineering processes, and best practices to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality. Serve as the technical delivery lead , driving cross-functional alignment, managing dependencies, and resolving integration risks and trade-offs. Partner with Scrum teams to balance delivery of features, defect resolution, and technical debt. 5. Leadership and Management Drive a culture of technical ownership, accountability, and structured problem-solving across cross-functional teams. Mentor and guide teams on system thinking, integration of best practices, and end-to-end delivery mindset. Ensure system readiness, validation, and final performance to meet defined requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering. 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams across systems, hardware, and at least one additional discipline. Demonstrated leadership in systems engineering and cross-disciplinary integration. Expertise in systems integration, mechanical and electronic design. Experience in modular product design and customization. Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills. Experience with prototyping, PoC, and gap analysis. Ability to manage teams and external partners effectively. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Wabtec KinetiX product lines. Experience with vision-based and acoustic inspection technologies. Role Summary/Purpose: Embedded Lead Software Engineer is responsible for design, coding and testing of locomotive system embedded applications. This role will perform design reviews and release software following Wabtec software process and guidelines. Essential Responsibilities: As an Embedded Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for writing software, resolving software related issues coming from testing, production and field, performing reviews and releasing software. You will follow configuration management processes, use tools and best practices and ensure software quality for customers. Role Summary/Purpose: We are seeking a motivated DevOps Engineer to support the Kinetix platform by driving automation, cloud adoption, infrastructure modernization, and reliable application delivery. This role will work closely with development, infrastructure, and architecture teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud and on-premises environments, support production operations, and improve deployment efficiency. The DevOps Engineer will help maintain and enhance enterprise applications while contributing to cloud migration initiatives, infrastructure automation, and operational excellence across the Kinetix ecosystem. Duties and Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab. Support application deployments across development, test, and production environments. Manage and maintain Windows Server-based infrastructure. Partner with development teams to automate build, testing, and deployment processes. Support cloud platforms including AWS and Azure. Assist with application and infrastructure migration from on-premises environments to the cloud. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform. As a Systems Engineer , you will work closely with engineering teams, product management, and railroad customers to support the development of innovative solutions that advance automation within the rail industry. How will you make a difference? As a Systems Engineer , you will support the design, development, testing, and deployment of Wabtec's Train Handling portfolio. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will contribute to requirements development, system analysis, verification activities, and product enhancements while adhering to established engineering processes and standards. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university Minimum of 1-2 years hands-on design, requirements development and implementation experience involving; Engineering Systems, Hardware / Software Engineering, and/or Data Information Systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally What will your typical day look like? Support the design, development, testing, and enhancement of Train Handling solutions while applying sound engineering principles and established development processes. Assist in gathering, documenting, and analyzing customer and system requirements to support product development and continuous improvement activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Software Engineering, Train Control, Office Systems, Safety, Validation, and Applications Engineering, to support project execution and successful product delivery. Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, verification activities, and technical discussions throughout the product development lifecycle. Assist in troubleshooting technical issues, analyzing system behavior, and supporting resolution efforts under the guidance of senior engineers. Contribute to field testing, validation, and evaluation activities for train automation and optimization solutions. Support the preparation of technical documentation, reports, project updates, and engineering deliverables. Work with railroad subject matter experts and engineering teams to learn operational concepts and apply them to product development efforts. Develop knowledge of industry standards, engineering best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to train automation, optimization, and distributed control systems. Utilize AI-enabled tools and technologies to improve productivity, accelerate learning, support analysis activities, and enhance engineering outcomes. Preferred Qualifications Foundational understanding of systems engineering principles and product development processes. Exposure to software, controls, automation, transportation, or embedded systems through coursework, internships, or project experience. Familiarity with systems architecture concepts and distributed systems is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Interest in applying AI-enabled tools and data-driven approaches to engineering challenges. Knowledge of railroad operations, AAR standards, CENELEC standards, or safety-critical systems is preferred but not required.
