We are seeking a Transport Security Policy & Audit Principal Engineer to lead network security designs, deployment strategies, and automation efforts across the Verizon network. In this role, you will collaborate with Planning and Design teams to architect security policies for new and existing environments and network segments. You’ll need to have: Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience. Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training. Experience in Network and Security Operations. Hands-on experience with firewall engineering (F5, Juniper, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco, Fortinet, etc.), networking and routing protocols (TCP/IP, VPN), and network security fundamentals and best practices.Strong capability in troubleshooting network connections, resolving complex network access and routing issues, participating in technical discussions, and handling on-call duties. The Threat Management Center (TMC) Security Operations Center (SOC) is the first line of defense for Verizon's networks and information systems against misuse and attacks. The TMC performs 24x7x365 monitoring and responds to automated and user-reported cyber security incidents that may impact people and information important to Verizon. The TMC plays an integral role in driving forward the security intelligence and capabilities in Cyber Defense. Please be aware, the TMC SOC does operate 24x7x365. Knowledge of secure coding techniques. Knowledge of application security, application security vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques. Some experience with software related information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., modularization, layering, abstraction, data hiding, and simplicity/minimization). Knowledge of secure software deployment methodologies, tools, and practices. Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth). Knowledge of security architecture concepts and enterprise architecture reference models. Knowledge in discerning the protection needs (i.e., security controls) of information systems and networks.
