Acquisitions and Development
Who we are Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress. Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that. Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive. This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale. We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life. If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us. About the role We are seeking an AI Engineer & Systems Architect who excels at building at the speed of thought. You embrace modern "vibe coding" (leveraging AI coding assistants to rapidly generate syntax and accelerate development) but your true value lies in your deep, foundational software engineering expertise. You do not blindly rely on Large Language Models (LLMs) to do the work; instead, you command them. You use your rigorous understanding of system architecture and code mechanics to orchestrate, debug, and weave together complex, deeply intertwined web applications. In this role, you will act as the master architect, using AI to amplify your output while ensuring the underlying infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and technically sound. What you’ll do Architect Complex Web Ecosystems: Design and build intricate, highly intertwined web applications, ensuring seamless communication across diverse microservices, frontend interfaces, and backend AI models. High-Velocity AI-Assisted Development: Utilize AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to execute rapid "vibe coding" and prototyping, translating product vision into functional systems at unprecedented speeds. Rigorous Code Orchestration & Review: Act as the final gatekeeper for AI-generated code. Apply your deep foundational knowledge to review, refactor, and debug complex logic, ensuring all outputs meet strict production-grade standards. Build AI-Powered Features: Integrate external commercial APIs, self-hosted open-source models, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks directly into complex web application workflows. Manage State and Data Flow: Engineer robust data pipelines and state management systems that can handle the unpredictable latency and complex data structures inherent in generative AI applications. What we’re looking for Advanced Systems Architecture: Deep understanding of modern web architectures (e.g., distributed systems, event-driven architecture, microservices) and how to untangle and manage deeply intertwined codebases. Software Engineering Fundamentals: A rock-solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. You must possess the ability to instantly read, comprehend, and correct complex code generated by AI. Full-Stack & Web Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of modern full-stack web development (e.g., React, Next.js, Node.js, Python/FastAPI) and the intricacies of managing complex state, websockets, and API integrations. AI Tooling Mastery: Proven experience working alongside AI agents and coding assistants to multiply engineering output, coupled with a pragmatic understanding of their limitations and hallucination risks. Infrastructure & Deployment: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern CI/CD pipelines to deploy multi-tiered web applications. Who you are The Master Conductor: You view AI as an extension of your own capabilities. You are comfortable steering the "vibe" of a codebase at a high level while possessing the technical chops to dive deep into the weeds when the AI fails. Systems Thinker: You see the forest and the trees. When building one feature, you inherently understand its ripple effects across a complex, intertwined web architecture. Quality-Obsessed Builder: You understand that rapid development must not come at the cost of technical debt. You prioritize system reliability, scalability, and security, ensuring that AI-accelerated code is also resilient code. Why join us Growing market: You’ll be focused on an $80 billion market that’s projected to reach at least $500 billion by 2030 in the US alone. Changing the restaurant industry: You’ll be part of a team that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery. Collaborative environment: You will receive support and guidance from experienced colleagues and managers, helping you to learn, grow, and achieve your goals, and you’ll work closely with other teams to ensure our customer’s success. What else you need to know At Atoms, you’ll work on one of the defining challenges of our time—bringing automation into the physical world to drive real, lasting impact. We exist to uncover valuable unknown truths and turn them into progress, which means constantly pushing beyond what’s known and building what doesn’t yet exist. The work is ambitious and often challenging, but it’s grounded in a shared sense of purpose and a team committed to seeing it through together. Our work only matters if it serves others, and we know that meaningful progress depends on the trust of the people we serve and the strength of our team—so we invest in both, creating an environment where you can do your best work and grow. Mining - Engineering
Who we are Pronto AI is a global leader in commercializing autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, deploying Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) that automate operations in mines, quarries, and construction sites worldwide. While much of the industry remains in R&D, we deliver real, production-ready autonomy that is already operating in the field. We are on a mission to make mining operations safer, smarter, and more efficient through cutting-edge technology, and we are building toward becoming the world’s first profitable AV technology company. What you’ll do Build the off-road truck safety case. Claims, evidence, limits, and what remains open. Keep it current as trucks, sites and software change, and be clear about what it does not cover. Hazard analysis. What the installation introduces on a given truck, what the site already carries, and what the combination creates. Drive the results into requirements and into site controls. Test preparation. Define what has to be demonstrated before a truck operates autonomously at a site: the procedures, the acceptance criteria, and what evidence each test actually produces. Commissioning readiness. Hold the gate between installed and operating. This is a real gate, and you are the person who helps specify when a site is not ready. Incidents and triage. Own the intake path, the severity model, the investigations, and corrective actions through to verified closure. Change assessment. Decide what a software release, a new truck variant or a new site layout does to the argument, and what has to happen before it goes live. Grow and lead a small team. You will hire one or two engineers as the work justifies them, and lead them. This is not a management role in the usual sense: the safety case, the commissioning gate and the investigations that matter stay with you, while your team takes the recurring load. If you are looking for a path to a large org, this is not that job yet. We expect this role to be materially more productive than the same role was three years ago, and we expect AI tooling to be the reason. A small team covers a surface that would otherwise need several, and the tooling is how that becomes possible rather than a fiction. Use it as a working instrument: drafting and maintaining site risk assessments from a common baseline, adapting procedures per site, triaging an event backlog, and finding patterns across sites that nobody reading one site's reports would see. Build your own tooling rather than filing tickets for it, and keep it running once other people depend on it. Be rigorous about the boundary. A generated hazard list is a hypothesis to verify, never a risk assessment. Safety determinations need a human who has looked at the evidence and walked the site. What we’re looking for 8+ years in systems safety, safety engineering or a closely related systems discipline in a safety-critical domain. Mining experience is not required. You have built a safety argument from scratch — claims, evidence, structure — and defended its sufficiency to someone who pushed back. Structured hazard analysis depth at both the system and the operational level, and the judgment to pick the method the situation actually warrants. You have written the process rather than inherited one: investigation, triage, qualification, or their equivalents. Tell us who ran it after you wrote it and what broke. Comfortable leading one or two people while still being the person who writes the safety case rather than reviewing it. Python or SQL sufficient to work event data yourself rather than waiting for an analyst. Willingness to travel to sites when needed. Nice to have Off-road, heavy vehicle or industrial machinery experience — mining, quarrying and aggregates, construction, ports or agriculture. Working knowledge of US mine safety regulation, including MSHA Part 46 and 48 training requirements and Part 50 reporting. Experience commissioning autonomous or remotely operated equipment on a customer's site. Experience adapting an existing safety method into a new domain rather than starting over. Experience building a small team from a standing start. Why join us Work on real, production-deployed autonomy. Build technology that directly improves safety, efficiency, and productivity. Tackle complex challenges in demanding, real-world environments. Be part of a fast-moving team with high ownership and impact. See your work deployed and making a difference in the field. Collaborate closely with experienced engineers and industry operators. What else you need to know This role is based in our San Francisco office location. As a company driven by innovation and continuous change, close collaboration is essential. We’re constantly reimagining our industry, creating new products, and refining our processes, and we do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week. The base salary range for this role is $195,000 - $240,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards. Benefits Summary (USA Full-Time Exempt Employees): Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance Flexible Spending Account / Health Savings Account Options 401(k) Equity Sick Time, Unlimited Flexible Time Off, and Paid Holidays Paid Parental Leave Pre-Tax Commuter Benefit Plan Team lunch in our SoMa office every Tuesday and Thursday Benefits are subject to change at the company's discretion. Transport - Engineering
About the role As a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer focused on World Models, you will be one of the foundational technical leaders of Atoms' AI organization. You will help develop models that learn rich representations of the physical world from large scale multimodal data enabling machines to understand environments, model how those environments evolve, and provide the learned representations needed for downstream reasoning and action. This is an opportunity to help define a new generation of physical AI systems. Rather than relying exclusively on traditional, independently engineered perception and autonomy components, we are exploring foundation model approaches capable of learning from diverse sensor inputs and large amounts of real world experience. You will work at the intersection of foundation models, multimodal learning, computer vision, robotics, and embodied AI to help determine what these systems should look like at Atoms. This is a deeply technical individual contributor role with significant influence over our research direction and long term AI architecture. What you'll do Define and help build Atoms' technical architecture for world models and foundation models for physical AI. Develop large scale models that learn representations of complex, dynamic physical environments. Explore architectures that capture spatial, temporal, semantic, and physical relationships within realworld environments. Develop approaches for learning how environments evolve over time and how actions influence future states. Research and build self supervised, generative, predictive, and representation earning approaches for physical world intelligence. Explore the application of modern foundation model architectures to robotics and autonomous systems. Develop training strategies that take advantage of largescale realworld and simulated datasets. Make architectural decisions spanning data, model design, pretraining, finetuning, evaluation, inference, and deployment.
