Coinbase's Developer Infrastructure group builds the tools and platforms that every Coinbase engineer relies on to build, test, ship, and operate software. Our teams collectively own the path from commit to production — scalable CI and build infrastructure, the platform that moves code safely to production, and the test infrastructure that gives engineers fast, trustworthy signals. We're hiring Software Engineers across several teams in the group, and you'll be matched to the one that best fits your strengths and interests. Wherever you land, you'll help build and operate foundational platform services used by all of Coinbase engineering, where a single improvement compounds across thousands of engineers. This is high-leverage systems work at a financial-grade reliability and security bar. What you'll do: Build, ship, and help operate features and components of core developer-infrastructure services — spanning CI and build systems, deployment orchestration, and test infrastructure — that are fast, reliable, and secure by default at Coinbase scale. Contribute to improvements in the metrics every engineer feels: build and CI wall time, deploy speed and safety, and test feedback time and flakiness. Own well-scoped components end to end — from implementation through testing, rollout, and monitoring — and participate in your team's on-call rotation. Write high-quality, well-tested, observable code, and build for production from day one. Collaborate with engineering teams across Coinbase (your customers) to understand pain points and translate them into concrete platform improvements. Contribute to technical design discussions for team projects, and independently drive your own work items to completion. Grow your impact by sharing knowledge, giving thoughtful code reviews, and raising the quality bar around you. Required Skills and Experience: 2+ years building and operating production software, with solid fundamentals in distributed systems and proficiency (or a strong ability to ramp) in a language like Go (or similar). A track record of shipping backend or platform features that other engineers or services depend on, with ownership from implementation through production. Good operational instincts — you care about reliability, security, and observability, and you write code with production in mind. Clear communication and the ability to drive scoped projects to completion with limited guidance and collaborate effectively across a team. A customer-focused mindset: you measure success by the impact your systems have on other engineers. Exposure to a developer infrastructure or platform domain: CI/CD, build systems, deployment/release tooling, test infrastructure, or developer productivity engineering. Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or containers (Docker/OCI). Experience with observability and performance tooling (e.g., Datadog) to measure and improve system behavior. Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” learn more about working at Coinbase . We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Native Mobile to join the App Infra team within the Consumer & Business group and help lead Coinbase's greenfield native mobile app rewrite. This team is replacing the existing React Native app with native Swift and Kotlin builds, using AI-driven agentic workflows to translate and rebuild every core surface for millions of customers. Your direction will determine how the team works: you'll bring deep iOS or Android expertise to set the technical bar, own quality outcomes, and translate org strategy into the team's technical execution as product teams onboard to native. What you'll do: Own the architecture of core native app surfaces in Swift and Kotlin, making the structural decisions that product teams build on as they onboard to native. Make this architecture enforceable: define the module boundaries and responsibilities, visibility rules, and compile-time checks that yield a high quality and scalable codebase by default. Stay hands-on across the team's codebases, writing and reviewing code at depth rather than directing from a distance. Lead the agentic code translation workflow, implementing high-quality automated systems for the team's recurring migration work before asking for headcount, and setting what gets automated versus what stays human across the translation pipeline. Own developer experience for the native codebase, accelerating every engineer who onboards by improving build speeds, local development workflows, and CI/CD reliability, and by defining the architectural patterns and documentation that make native mobile development at Coinbase a world-class experience. Shape the dual-app agentic synchronization strategy during the transition, prioritizing the highest-impact outcomes and designing the daily agent automations and human review processes that keep native and React Native codebases in sync. Become a leader throughout the entire mobile community at Coinbase, defining best practices, mentoring L3-L5 mobile engineers across all teams, and fostering connection and support between all mobile engineers. Required Skills and Experience: 8+ years of iOS or Android mobile software engineering experience (Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android), with working proficiency in the other platform and willingness to develop cross-platform fluency, as engineers on this team own both iOS and Android. Track record of shipping high-quality mobile applications at scale with ownership of architecture decisions, performance budgets, and release quality, with outcomes that would not have happened without your direct involvement. Deep understanding of mobile performance optimization, including cold start, frame stability, scroll jank, and time to interaction, with experience profiling and tuning across device tiers including low-end Android. Demonstrated ability to translate org strategy into team-level technical execution, build alignment across cross-team and cross-functional partners, and secure commitment on migration timelines and quality standards. Experience with AI-assisted code generation or LLM-driven development workflows, with demonstrated judgment on what to automate and what requires human review. Experience improving developer experience through build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and release tooling, with improvements adopted beyond your immediate team. Uses generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable gains in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. The team is leading the greenfield native rewrite of Coinbase's retail mobile app in Swift and Kotlin, replacing the existing React Native codebase to deliver a significantly faster experience for millions of customers. As we do so, we need to reinvent our mobile release process from the ground up to ensure each release passes rigorous quality gates before reaching customers. You'll set Coinbase’s Frontend quality bar, translating org-level strategy into the test infrastructure and operational practices that ~30 product teams depend upon. What you'll do: Own the technical strategy for mobile QA infrastructure across the native rewrite, operating at depth across the team's codebases and designing operational practices that lower maintenance and operational overhead while raising release quality. Build and scale automated test systems for recurring regression testing. Before asking for additional headcount, you set and refine what gets automated versus what stays human across regression, performance validation, and release readiness gating. Lead the QA readiness workstream for the phased rollout, driving clarity across success metrics, resourcing, and operations.
